Nina Krisochenko, a gifted and unique artist, was born in Moscow in 1919. At the age of six, she began taking art classes from master
of Ukrainian landscapes, Svetlitsky and Yarovoy. Her paintings and embroidered landscapes portray the world in an impressionist view
and have been exhibited in museums in Ukraine. Many of Nina's works gained recognition at home and have received high awards abroad.
The embroidered landscapes, done entirely in fine silk threads of subtle palette have been exhibited in Japan, Germany and Czech Republic,
where they garnered the attention of well-known art collectors.
Nina and her husband, painter Anatoly Krisochenko, survived famine in the 1930's in Ukraine,
Nazi Occupation of Kiev in World War II,
shipment to and internment in a forced labor camp in Germany (where their one-year-old son Alexander died), post war Stalin terror,
and harsh communist repressions. They raised four children and installed in their sons Nikolay and Pavel a great love of art.
Even today, the beauty and mystery that Nina sees in the wotld around her is expressed in her unique art forms.
